Sexual internet predators are a big threat and
everyone can do even a small part in helping to stop abuse online.
The biggest way you can help prevent abuse is by spreading the word
webcam safety, telling those you know about the dangers posed by
internet predators and reporting abuses to the CyberTipLine and
webcamsafety.org If you frequent video chat websites you can do a huge part by warning users, particularly ones who are underage females, letting them know that people online can very easily record webcam streams and alerting them to the behaviors of internet predators. Making A Difference: SCOPOS :: Synchronous Cyber Operations Providing Online Security SCOPOS is an elite cyber task force of well trained individuals who volunteer their time to patrol video chat websites, warning users about webcam abuse, and protecting users from sexual internet predators. In general the task force works covertly behind the scenes to prevent abuse employing many tactics known to deter sexual predators, meanwhile providing clear concise information and assistance to those in trouble. Subsequently SCOPOS collects vast amounts of data that may also pose useful to law enforcement. To volunteer for SCOPOS you will be required to undergo training on how to handle abuse situations properly and how to treat victims of abuse. A minimum week long assessment period is also mandated, where you will have to show your own methods of informing video chat members about webcam abuse, along with your experience level on major chat sites.
